Car magnets - effective and affordable advertising

In today's economy, it's difficult for small businesses to get off the ground. Advertising doesn't come cheap, especially when belts are being cinched and pockets are nearly empty. Car magnets are great advertising solution for small businesses.

Here's why your business should use car magnets:

Car magnets are affordable.
Compared to other advertising options like billboards or radio spots, car magnets definitely won’t break the bank. They’re an inexpensive way to improve business. Driving around town with a car magnet on your vehicle helps spread the word quickly about your business.

Car magnets allow you to transform your personal vehicle into a moving advertisement.
There's no need to go purchase a fleet - all you need to do is slap on a magnet and drive as opposed to vinyl graphics which can be difficult to apply and remove. Car magnets make promoting your business easy, and at the end of the day, you can pull off your magnet and turn it back into a personal car.

It’s important to remember, however, a cheap magnet does not equal a good magnet. Investing in high-quality magnetic signs means that they won't go flying off your car the next time you're on the highway. Make sure the magnets you're buying are made from thick magnetic material and have curved corners to prevent curling and fly-always.

Being well groomed will take you places

How often have we heard the saying "the first impression is the last impression". Well, a survey commissioned by Gillette and conducted by Harris Interactive, confirms that it is true.

One of the most critical grooming cue for making a good first impression was having a clean-shaven face. Other no nos include body odour or sweat stains. Also make sure you wear good fitting, nicely pressed and and appropriate clothing as well.

Apparently it's not just the first impression that matters. Being well groomed may very well help you in your career and get the sports car of your dreams. I am not joking. According to the survey, most HR professionals agreed that well-groomed employees do better in the corporate race as compared to those who don't take care of how they look.

So if you are one of those who never bothered to look in the mirror while going to work, you should be worried. Especially in these bad economic times.

However, hope is on the way. You may not only keep your job but get that Ferrari as well. Gillette has launched Gillette Career Advantage on their website and you can get expert advice from career expert Mark Jeffries and GQ style correspondent, Brett Fahlgren.

Brett Fahlgren

On the site, you can take the Gillette career quiz and find out what HR professionals really think.

For more information of what Gillette has to offer for you and to read the survey findings, visit the Gillette Resource Center. Loads of other useful resources as well.

The Dacia revolution

Check out the ad for the Dacia Logan. See whether you can recognise the prominent revolutionary figures portrayed in the clip. I heard it caused quite a stir.

The "revolution" apparently refers to the fact that, due to it's aggressive pricing, the Logan MCV is a real "car for the people".

For your information, Dacia is a subsidiary of Renault and the car is manufactured Dacia's automobile plant in Mioveni, Romania.

Thanks to Kathrin and Timothy from Nordpol for the info.

Dodge Nitro T-shirt contest sponsors disappear

I finally realized I was scammed after repeated e-mails to the contact person and the company who sponsored my Dodge Nitro T-shirt contest, remain unanswered.

The winners of the contest will not go empty handed. I have already sent them a t-shirt each from my own 'Auto Enthusiast' online shop. I really apologise for not being able to deliver the promised prizes. This is a big lesson for me.

Read the whole series of events here, right from the start when a lady named Corrie Zielinski contacted me. I later found out that she was the Online Brand Manager of an online advertising company called New Media Strategies.

UPDATE: 5 June 2007
I am really happy to announce that everything turned out great in the end. The whole fiasco was due to e-mail problems.

Auto forum plus classifieds

One of my readers emailed me asking me advise about buying a used car. Well, I can only point out some greats links on the site for them. Joining in auto discussion forums might be a good idea as there are a number of people who could help with specific requests.

Car Classifieds is a site which might help with your decision. You can browse cars by make / model - regardless of whether you are looking for a Pontiac Firebird or a Toyota Corolla.

You can also join their forum where you can put up any of your auto related questions. The website claims that their Auto forum is one of the fastest growing automotive communities on the Interent.

If you are not looking for a car but instead looking for a place to place an ad for you old car, you might be pleased to hear that you can list your car for free now. Go and check out the site.

Lemonfree car ads

Recently came across one of the best Used Cars sites on the net. Unlike other car ad sites, Lemonfree.com is a a free automobile classifieds service, which means that you not only get to search for the car of your choice but can also least your car for free.

Their site search facility was surprisingly fast and you can locate a new or used automobile in Canada and the US. A trial search for Honda Accord without any specifications produced 406 results.

Another innovative technology incorporated into their site is private messaging service, which allows you to contact the seller while you're online viewing the listing.

I wholeheartedly endorse Lemonfree.com

Cool Mustang ads

Ian Hart has come up with an amazing and creative way to convey a sense of speed on static billboards. The Mustang ads are on billboards are made from semi-transparent Lexan, which blur the background scenery. Proves that you don't need bright colours or images to be eye catching.

Amazing opps on PPP

A lot of people look surprised when I tell them that I actually make money blogging. Most of my earnings come from opportunites I took from Payperpost, the leading "Consumer Generated Advertising Network" that actually pays me to blog what I like.

They have recently rolled out a new segmentation system whereby advertisers can choose the type of blogs they want to carry their ads. For example, auto related companies can choose to only have auto related blogs like mine to carry their ads. Likewise, companies can choose to limited their sponsored opportunities to blogs that have higher page rankings (meaning higher number of visitors). Advertisers should note that PPP only charges a 35% service fee compared to ReviewMe that charges a 100% markup.

Soon after they put the new system in place, there has been a number of high paying of opportunities. For example, if you are a PR8 blog, you could actually make $1000 for a single post. That is a little more than 3 times more than what I have made all this time. I lost another $35 opportunity today for Mustang Myspace Layouts, which wanted only auto blogs because I don't have the required PR (5).

If you are concerned about the reaction from potential customers, PPP requires all bloggers to disclose their sponsored posts.
